Pressure point knockouts are one of the things people most want to learn from me, and one of the things I am most careful about teaching. In this video lesson I show the exact training method and the safety protocols, so that you can learn these knockouts properly and safely. These easy knockouts are my personal go-to favourites, and I have helped thousands of people around the world learn the principles behind them.

It is for martial artists, self-defence students and instructors who want to understand how pressure point knockouts really work.

Safety First

I will say this as plainly as I can. Never knock someone out for fun. It is dangerous. What part of being unconscious sounds like it is good for you?

These techniques exist for self-defence. Training them needs a responsible approach:

  • Only train with a cooperative partner you trust, and with control
  • Have someone experienced present who knows the safety protocols
  • Work at low power while you learn location and angle
  • Never strike the head or neck hard in practice

If you are ever forced to use this for real, the law expects reasonable force in the circumstances.

Why Pressure Point Knockouts Work

A knockout does not have to come from a huge punch. Hit the right place, at the right angle, with the right kind of strike, and the body reacts far more than you would expect from the force involved. That is what makes pressure points so valuable to people who are smaller, older or less athletic than their attacker.

Much of the effect comes from the angle and the type of strike, not just the target. A relaxed strike that travels through the point, what I call a waveform, is far more effective than a stiff, tense one.

The Training Method

The method is about building skill in the right order:

  1. Learn the location of the point accurately
  2. Learn the correct angle of attack
  3. Practise the strike slowly and lightly, with control
  4. Only then build speed, under supervision and with proper safety

Rushing the process is how people get hurt. Follow the order and the skill comes surprisingly quickly.
